About this pro

My most goal as a teacher is to teach students to think and to understand themselves. The singing and acting techniques are mostly about how our body and our mind works. I believe that ability to think and to analyze yourself always gives you an advantage either in profession or life.

Lena is a fantastic voice teacher and very enjoyable to work with. I'm in my mid 40s and came in with years of singing experience but little formal training. Lena is helping me recognize and correct decades of bad technique. She explains things clearly and goes above and beyond to make sure that you understand what she's talking about. Highly recommended!

Elena is teaching my 12 year daughter. Before that we had another teacher for two years. That teacher kept saying that my daughter has no high notes and she will not be able to develop those. It took only two first lessons with Elena to find those high notes! She is a very patient and nice person, my daughter is very excited about their lessons!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The most importaint thing in studying singing ar acting is trust. Student must be as open as it possible as well as be relaxed. To establish that trust on my very first lesson I am trying to find the connection with a student. I would introduce myself, tell about me, tell about the subject of our training, ask students to tell about themselves and their goals and then try couple simple exersises.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I Graduated from the Theater Drama school in Tbilisi, Georgia (the country), worked there in the musical theater for 9 years. Also graduated from the Theater Institute (RATI GITIS) in Moscow, Russia (acting for drama theater), took 2 years directing theater classes in Moscow Shukin Theater University.

Had Musical Theater training with various of schools in Moscow and in USA. In particular Broadway Dreams Foundation School (with Rob McClure and other teachers), Walnut Street Theater musical theater classes (singing, acting, dancing)

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

The standard price for private lessons is $60 for 45-50 minutes. However, if the student wants to have longer sessions, I can offer a discount. Also I am offering price packages, you can check it out on my site.

How did you get started teaching?

WHen I was taking Directing Theater classes in the Theatrical University in Moscow, I was offered to teach a children's acting class. It was about 15 years ago. But I wasn't really ready that time, so I refused the offer. But since then I was always thinking about it and kind of preparing for it within myself. And one day I felt that I am ready for teching, so I went to the art aducation center in my town and offered singing lessons and acting for puppet theater classes (since I am a Puppetter too). My first classes were small groups for children ages 4-10 and 10-15 years old. Then I started giving private lessons too.

What types of students have you worked with?

I worked with pretty much all the ages (4 year old to 65 years old).

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

The most important thing in studying art dicplines is a trust and connection to a student. So the most advice is to find a right teacher for you personally.
