Frequently asked questions

What goals do you have for your music and your instrumental learning? I have learning methods that will help you focus your goals and make them attainable. I use traditional and standard song repertoire to help students learn technique, rhythm, tempo, melody, harmony and chords.

My training began at 3rd grade in a local neighborhood music store in Charlotte, NC with a private teacher, a pair of drum sticks and a snare drum. From there it was junior high school chorus classes, private banjo lessons from a local working musician, bluegrass jams and festivals, high shcool musicals as a pit player, professional gigs on guitar, and then two years at Berklee College of Music in Boston. A West Coast stint followed with lots of music gigs, a truck driving job, a teacher aid position at a private elementary school, and then a return to the East Coast. Since then, lots of teaching in the NYC Metro region, lots of recording and touring, sideman work and leading my own projects. Always taking students and loving it. It is a priveledge and a pleasure to teach and share with musical aspirants.

My rate is $150 in advance to cover four 30min Zoom lessons. I am available for 60min lessons as well.

I got started teaching because I was so excited by the music that I was learning, I wanted to share it with ANYONE else!

I have worked with level one students of all ages as well as students who are playing gigs and recording their own music. I have also taught television and movie actors how to play.
