What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start with what they are comfortable with. Start with singing a song you love and really shows you off. Then we create a plan and do exercises to get you to your goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors and Masters Degree in Music, Opera Performance. I have sung leading roles at some of the largest opera houses in the country and all around the world.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $150 per lesson, however I will negotiate on price signifacantly with what I call "scholarships," that reduce the price, sometimes significantly if you have the financial need and show promise.
How did you get started teaching?
I tought at Stephen F. Austin State University for 2 years as a masters student. I've taken private voice students in my travels as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I tend to work with older students who show an interesting in a singing career.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try them out. If you don't like the teacher, try another one. I will often give the first lesson at a large discount just in case you don't like my technique and teaching style.
