I offer one-on-one voice lessons and/or music theory tutoring in a virtual setting to beginners and intermediate level singers who want to expand their vocal abilities and musicianship. I teach beginner and intermediate musicians of ALL AGES and offer lesson plans that teach most vocal genres such as: classical, musical theater, and contemporary styles. I acknowledge the importance of singing with confidence and overcoming stage fright as an essential part of being a well-rounded vocalist. In addition to teaching healthy vocal technique, vocal anatomy and music theory to my students, I also incorporate stage presence and musical expression into their lessons to strengthen their skills as a performer.

I have a passion for teaching music and sharing the joy of music-making with my students. I currently teach students in a virtual setting over zoom where we explore the individual's vocal faults and finds solutions to improve their overall technique. I design unique lesson plans geared towards the skill level and goals of the individual student, and assigns age-appropriate repertoire to help them apply healthful vocal techniques to the songs they are interested in learning.

My child took a few lessons from Mary. After only a few lessons I could see the improvement in my daughters voice. Mary not only has an incredible vocal technique herself, but she also provides many tools and tricks that my daughter can always use now to improve her own vocal skills! Would 100% recommend her to others :-)

I loved working with Mary Kray. She was extremely understanding, knowledgeable, and challenging. I felt that she pushed me to learn music outside of my comfort-zone. I never would’ve sang Mahler before working with Mary Kray!!

She is very organized and professional. But most importantly she is compassionate and understanding and makes even a shy person like myself feel comfortable. Mary Kray cultivates a lesson plan that works best for you and your voice. She creates warm ups and sends you sheet music to rehearse outside of the lessons that helps build your craft in singing. She is phenomenal and I would recommend her to anyone that wants to harnest their singing skills.

    Frequently asked questions

My lesson plans revolve around the individual and is unique to each student based on their skill level and personal goals. I acknowledge that every musician has different goals, and I plan my lessons around the individual achieving those milestones by increasing the difficulty with each lesson and choosing repertoire that the student is passionate about. I always focus on building a strong foundation for vocalists to achieve healthful & free singing through various conditioning exercises that emphasize improving their breath control, tone, and resonance.

I am professional singer and music theory tutor based in Boston, MA. I received my Master of Music degree from Boston Conservatory where I studied opera performance. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in music performance with an emphasis in vocal performance from Northern Arizona University where I studied vocal pedagogy, vocal literature, music history, music theory, and piano all while engaging in a multitude vocal performance opportunities. I have also participated in Musiktheater Bavaria, a month-long performance intensive opera program in July of 2019 where I had the privilege of studying and performing in Oberaudorf, Germany under the direction of world class teachers and coaches.

I offer monthly payment plans that cover 4 voice lessons at a time. I offer half hour or hour long voice lessons depending on the individual's musical goals.
