I have been in the entertainment industry for 15 years as an actor/director/coach. I trained at Marymount Manhattan College and at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, both in NYC. I have performed around the world and currently work with the Family Repertory Company as Associate Director. I believe that actors are to seek truth in everything that we do. Starting from tearing apart the text so that it becomes a part of us to finding the physical and vocal tendencies of character from a neautral place. I utilize tools from Alexander, Stanislavsky, Laban, and other approaches to make sure the actor can both connect to and deliver the text in a way that is honest, free, and interesting.
Actors have the best job in the world. We can be EVERYTHING. We are able to see all sides of any equation and can empathize like no other. We must, therefore, take extra good care of our mental and emotional health. Finding the balance between self and character has always intrigued me in a way that nothing else on Earth can.

Working with Darius Journigan was a completely worthwhile experience In the short time we spent on my piece, I was able to turn an inspirational speech that felt powerful but repetitive into a passionate monologue that feels exciting and important. His ability to work with the text and my interpretation of it and then help me connect to it personally was incredible. Wonderful session. Thank you.
Highly highly recommended! I had an amazing experience with Darius. I love that he doesn’t sugar coat things and goes straight to the point with what your working on. Excellent teaching skills and he’s able to break things down for even a baby to understand! Thank you so much Darius!
Darius is an amazing instructor. Very open makes you feel comfortable. He’s very flexible with time and a really nice guy.
Darius was very knowledgeable in how to make my monologue work specifically for ME.
I begin by having the student read the text aloud to me. We then have a discussion about the world of the play/film/show to get on the same page. I have the actor explore vocal and physical qualities that may or may not work for the role, but that may help to bring forth discoveries that they may not have thought of. Depending on the needs of the actor, we will then do a line by line analysis and dive into character with substitutions, fighting for an objective, overcoming obstacles, and relationship work. I also like to explore physical images and gestures.

I actually kind of fell into teaching. It started in acting school when a friend asked me to help her with an audition piece. She loved working with me and spread the word and next thing you knew people from all over campus were asking me to coach them!
I have worked with children as young as 9, seniors, college students, first time actors, and people exploring acting as a means of expanding their professional skill in an area unrelated to acting.
I recently got the chance to work with esteemed Broadway director Kenny Leon. What a life altering moment!
Read reviews, look up the coach online, and go with your gut. After a first session, if you aren't pleased and dont feel a connection, keep looking!
