About
The Queens Studio is the exclusive coaching venue for Jodie Lynne McClintock. Ms. McClintock is a respected actress who has appeared in Film and Television as well as on Broadway and Off, in London's West End and with the Royal Shakespeare Company, at Israel's National Theatre Habimah, and at major regional theatres across the country. She is also an influential acting coach. Ms. McClintock strongly believes it is her sacred responsibility to pass along the knowledge she has gained as an actress. To quote George Bernard Shaw (with a twist) "Those who can, do. Those who can do more, teach." To that end, she has taught at the British-American Drama Academy in both London and Oxford and for Paris-based Acting International and at various universities including Carnegie Mellon, Duke, Adelphi, Pitt, and Alabama (in the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's MFA program) as well as Circle Repertory, the Fieldston School, the T. Schreiber Studio and NYU: Stonestreet Studios, amongst others. Although she has been privately coaching for the past quarter century, for the last 20 years she has operated the Queens Studio in Sunnyside, NY with a primary focus on private acting coaching sessions. She demystifies the daunting audition process with her supportive, individualized, holistic, action based approach and holds sessions in monologue selection and polishing, sides and cold readings, Shakespeare, commercial copy, acting for the camera, role preparation, acting the song, and the business of the business. A particular area of expertise is the preparation of the MFA graduate school auditions as well as auditions for overseas programs and undergraduate institutions.
The next best thing to performing myself is to enable others to share their passion and help them perfect their skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Once I ascertain what the new client's needs are i.e. is this for a particular audition in what kind of medium or is this for a more generalized work process, I create a plan addressing the most immediate concerns and then broadening the work to include necessary components. If needed I can help with monologue selection, cutting, and polishing or can just narrow our focus to a particular role or audition.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I tailor our process to your particular talent and needs. I charge by the hour, although I must admit that if I am not fully booked back to back, I do tend to go overtime. I never just want to end a session arbitrarily at time- I prefer that we get the work to the next level before finishing each given session. Most of my clients book an hour session at a time although I have had students who preferred hour and a half or two hour sessions.
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching and performing have always gone hand in hand throughout my career. I believe you have to have practical knowledge to be able to teach- not just teaching in a vacuum. "Those who can, do. Those who can do more, Teach."
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with actors as young as 8 and as old as 84- actors at all levels of experience- even those who have never acted before to those who are well known professionals. My clients have appeared on Broadway, in major films and television, in theatres across the globe, in national commercials, have founded their own theatre and production companies, and have secured places in the top graduate and drama schools in this country and the UK.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make certain that the teacher is not just coaching as a side income from their own performing gigs but has a track record and a passion for sharing their expertise with students. Make sure too, that their coaching process is as unique and individual as you are and that they are supportive and nurturing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are both their long term and immediate goals as an actor. What skills do they need to acquire not only to get the parts but to perform them once the roles are won. Are they willing to use coaching sessions as a crucible for honing both acting and auditioning skills?
