About this pro

My journey has been fun and exciting, I was born in Peru, studied in Spain, played with bands around Europe and then moved to USA where I graduated from Berklee College of Music (Summa Cum Laude) as an scholarship student. Now in NYC, I've been working as a drummer and teacher for the past 5 years. Still, my teaching experience comes from way back (when I was still in Peru, more than 10 years ago), getting my first private students and subbing for my teachers at my music school.

Teaching drums has always been an integral part of my musical life and all of that knowledge throughout those years is what I offer. I feel patience, flexibility and communication are really important to have a good student/teacher relationship. It doesn't matter your level or age, I'm sure I'll be helpful in your journey as a drummer.

Just hit me up!

It's hard to not have fun when playing drums!!! It is a really exciting instrument that involves our whole body to be in sync in order to be able to play it.

Still, I think that most fulfilling part is to see the students' growth throughout the lessons, especially when they get to finally express themselves behind a drum kit!

David is one the most wonderful teachers I’ve had. He adjusts his teaching style as you progress to align with exactly what you need to understand how to play whatever it is you’re working on. The amount of kindness and patience he has shown me over our lessons is priceless. He takes the time to choose music that not only suits you but helps you progress. He is caring and strives to help you reach your goals and invent new ones! I highly recommend him as a teacher, and will continue to take lessons from him as long as he is willing to teach me!

David is an extremely talented musician and teacher. His passion for music is obvious and he seems to know (and enjoy!) so many different genres of music. He is an extremely patient and adept teacher, who makes the material accessible without compromising on thoroughness. I really appreciated that, even though I was a novice and kind of a slacker student, he always kept me to a high standard and consistently pushed me to improve my form and technique. He is also funny, kind, and super chill. I can’t recommend him enough!

David has been teaching me drums for more than a year now, and it's been fantastic! He'll make you work on whatever you want to learn, making sure that your technique is always improving. He's also very professional, on time and can adapt to your schedule!

David is an amazing teacher, has a method to it and not only can he play and teach any drum groove and song out of a hat, but does it with passion and dedication. He’s fun to work with, patient and kind. A fine drummer who breathes and lives music, he always takes the time out of his day to answer drum questions outside of class. I learned so much in a short amount of time, I am really grateful for all he is willing to give.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have over 15 years of experience teaching both privately and through schools. I've also studied in Spain (Barcelona - L'aula de musics) and graduated from Berklee College of Music (Summa Cum Laude) as a scholarship student. Currently I've been working as a professional drummer and teaching in the NYC for the past 7 years

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I offer a first lesson for a discounted rate so you can see if I'm the right fit for you. If you decide to go on with the lessons you can pay by the hour or buy packs of 4 lessons (for a discounted rate too!)

What types of students have you worked with?

I've been lucky enough to work with really diverse people. From student that are just starting to learn how to play (maybe have not even picked up a pair of sticks in their lives), all the way to advanced (people that already play in bands), who are looking to take their drumming skills to the next level. It's been a lot of fun!
