About this pro

I am a newly graduated drummer of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. I am open to teaching all styles to all ages! I have been performing since the age of 10 and am a regular gigging musician in NYC. I am very excited to now have the time to start teaching again and spread the joy that is drumming!

I love music for so many reasons and feel passionate about not only spreading it, but helping others find a place for it in their lives that meets their satisfaction. Music is something that brings people together in a beautiful way and in helping doing that, I feel I've done my job :)

Tom is great at focusing on what you need as a student in order to improve. Each lesson is structured with clear goals in mind. His wonderful personality makes it a enjoyable to learn.

Tom Criblez is a very good drum teacher and a cool person. I like the way he is teaching. He teaches me all important stuff I got to know as a beginner. He loves what he is doing and believes in what he is doing. As I'm a "zero" musician he made me believe that I can play drums and I can. And just few lessons later I could see I am progressing.

Tom's an outstanding teacher. He's real laid back and tailors the lesson to your particular needs and what you are looking to get out of the lesson. He's very knowledgeable and has loads of experience, perfectly equipped to give you the skills necessary to excel on the kit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

It depends on the student! I like to first get to know what exactly the student wishes to learn and then asses from there. Attacking an area of the study at all angles is essential to truly learning the material. Whether it's technique, tone, reading, listening, performing, etc. - it's very important to know how each piece of the puzzle works in order to help create the big picture.
