About
I am a fun, and energetic drum teacher with a bachelors degree in jazz studies. I am one of the first call drummers in Oregon, playing over 100 gigs a year.
My top priority is to help you achieve YOUR goals, whether that's playing along to your favorite song, expanding your drumming technique, or discovering how to play any style of music on the drum set. I always provide a logical sequence of events to make playing drum set simple, and fun.
I love hearing what each student wants to get better at, showing them how to work on that, then watching my students improve.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to ask the new student some questions, such as: what kind of music do you like? What musical background do you have? What do you want to get out of drum lessons? After I have a good sense of what the student wants to get out of lessons, I try to get an idea of where the student is in his/her playing by listening to them play a bit. This allows me to determine the kinds of activities that are best to acheive the student's goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon. I have taken many drum lessons from a variety of different teachers, which has given me a diverse perspective on the art of teaching drums. I have synthesized those many approaches into a versitile teaching method.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, I charge a flat hourly rate. However, the lesson duration and frequency can be customized to fit the student's needs (for example 30, 45, 60 minute lessons; every week, every other week, etc.). I also offer a monthly subscription plan where if you schedule and pay for a month of lessons at once, I will give a 10% discount. This can be applied to any lesson duration and frequency.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching in high school when young drummers would see me perform, and approach me asking "can you teach me to do that?" I always said "yes!"
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, 5 years old to 60 years old! Some of my students have been professional drummers seeking to improve their skills, while others have been hobbyists just wanting to have fun with the drums.
