Teaching offers the opportunity to fully live in the middle of what drew me to this artform in the first place. The journey of discovery is where the joy is for me, and when that journey is shared, it is even more fulfilling. So what better than to travel with a student on that journey.

I was lucky to have Geoff coach me for an audition. He emphasized that i should tell the truth, tell the story. This resonated with me and i have used this theory every time i approach an audition.

His ability to listen to a question, draw on his intellect as well as his mastery of the craft, and offer up a real answer, not some stock response. I have had 8 prior acting teachers and none have been able to explain it to me like Geoff. I have grown with Geoff in ways not available through other teachers. His students are very lucky, whether they know it or not.

Geoffrey Cantor is what I consider my secret weapon. When I feel overwhelmed, Unspecific, or Intimidated in this business I call him immediately. He gives me a perspective and specificity that has turned my career around.

His ease and naturalness at bringing out your own comfort and emphasis on keeping it real and telling the story. I always remember that and bring it to every piece.

I feel very comfortable when i work with Geoffrey, which is very important to me. He helps me to find the essence of my characters and we work together to keep my acting truthful and organic. He’s honest and completely present and not at all judgmental. Geoffrey also coached my daughter when she was 13 for entrance into a performing arts school, which she was accepted into. He did a wonderful job with her, getting her audition ready and putting her completely at ease. I will continue to coach with him and I highly recommend him to others.

Ive worked with Geoffrey on several occasions and always left the class more confident and with a deeper sense of who the character is. I came to him not only for acting coaching but also to help alleviate my anxiety at auditions. Geoffrey helped tackle the core of the problem, not just with relaxation but with a true understanding of where it comes from and why its apparent during auditions. I trust his guidance and experience to help me deepen my craft.

    Frequently asked questions

All of my work is text based. I use the script as the doorway or window into behavior, intention, and the specifics of the character. This kind of process-based work is aplicable to all mediums. That said, every actor or acting student is different, and I ask for at least one monologue to start so that I can better understand his/her own approach to the work and determine a path or course that suits that student specifically.

I am an actor, and have a huge range of professional experience across the spectrum -- from print modeling to broadway, industrials and commericals to major films and TV series. A product of training, both here and in the UK, I apply what I've learned to my teaching. My three years as a social worker also gives me additional and unique insight into behavior and thought - the mind of the character.

    My prices are as follows

$80 per 1/2 hour not including studio rental.

$150 per hour not including studio rental.

$1350 for 10 anytime hours not including studio rental.

$1700 for 10 anytime hours, rental included.

If you choose to prepay, there is no refund, but the hours never expire. Anytime hours can be broken up into 1/2 hours periods.

Same day cancellations will be chaged at the full rate for single hour appointments, and will count toward one hour for students who prepay.

Skype and FT are both available for the same price.

No teacher can or should promise paying gigs or huge successful careers. But all teachers should be able to raise the level of the actual work for all their students, and guide them as they develop an individualized approach.
