Frequently asked questions

Before our first lesson I communicate with the client(s) via phone, text or e-mail to find out as much as possible about their goals, expectations, prior experience, ideas, song choice etc, to really be able to cater to that and make the lessons as personable as possible and to meet client's goals.

I am a Ballroom/Latin dancer, competitor & teacher. My training has been and still is by from of the most renouned coaches in the world. Being originally from Finland I have represented my country in both national and international competitions and now since living in NYC I am representing the USA. I have worked for dance studios in Manhattan, but I have decided to continue working as an independant dance teacher to be able to offer the best service for my clients.

I have been teaching different styles of dance since high school, mostly for fun. I learned quickly that I had the patience and passion for helping others and getting them excited about dance. I studied with the best Ballroom and Latin dance teachers to further my own dance career. Along side of doing that and competing both nationally and internationally I studied Physical Therapy and I went on to also becoming a fitness instructor/personal trainer in 2009. As I moved to NYC 6 years ago I started out teaching Ballroom in one of the biggest dance studios in Manhattan and teaching group fitness at some of the biggest gyms here. I love introducing people to the world of dance and see how much joy they get out of too, just like me. Wether it is for learning a new hobby, getting ready for a wedding, for stress relief etc. I think dance is something everyone should incorporate in their life and I am excited to be the one guiding you from your very first dance steps.

I work with anyone willing to learn. Everyone has their own reason for wanting to learn wether it is to get ready for their wedding, to learn as a new hobby, for stress relief, because they think they have two left feet, for an event or just for fun! Everyone is welcomed!

I watched the NYC marathon on Sunday and I got tears in my eyes when seeing all the people overcoming this impressive task! They have worked hard, have a goal, have a passion for running or a reason for running and they were out there doing it! Some were pros, some first time runners but they were all sharing it together. That's how I feel about dancing, it's my passion and something we can all share together, beginners and pros. I get very excited to introduce people to the world of dance and the benefits dance will have on your life. The toughest part is to start, but a year from now or a few months from now you will be happy you did, when you're "running that marathon", or in this case out there dancing at that work event or performing your First Dance with your spouce infront of your friend and family or brave enough to go out social dancing because you just learned how to lead someone to do some cool turn pattern. Let's begin today!

Communicate with the teacher before hand and tell them your situation/level/goals/time/etc. That way we can tell you if we are the right person for you or maybe help you finding someone who is. It also helps us make your lesson as personable as possible. If you don't quite know what you want, we might suggest you to try some different styles to see what might catch your interest. Remember dancing is an art and it takes some time to intergrate in your body before you will start feeling comfortable. Everybody also learns differently so don't be shy to tell your teacher how you recieve information the best, by explaining, showing, doing, listening..
