About
I'm a 47 year old LI resident. Started working in law enforcement in 1999. My training in the martial arts started in 1987. I have trained in Shingitai Karate, Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) Karate, Koga-Ryu Ninjutsu, and Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo-jutsu into the black belt levels. Also having trained in various styles of jujutsu to increase my knowledge of grappling. In 1999 I started following the teachings Patrick McCarthy. I continue to study and train in various arts. To satisfy my curiosity about the human body and other eastern studies I studied to a personal trainer and massage therapist. In May 2000 I became a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer - Health Fitness Instructor (CPFT-HFI) through Hofstra University and the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education (APPTE). In December 2001 I completed the massage therapy program at The Swedish Institute and became a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist (NYSLMT) in 2002.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give a short interview to determine any special needs. Also after observing a student’s first lesson I make adjustments according to their physical and learning abilities.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Negotiable
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching was a part of training in Shingitai karate. I later started teaching private lessons and then branched off to group lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve taught students aged 14 to 69 years age. All experience levels from novice to advanced.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You should first determine why and what you want from your martial arts lessons. Convey them to the teacher. Observe lessons and classes you would be taking. Also I would be wary of contracts.
