About this pro

I am able to bring out the specific vocal timbre of each voice.  I don't impose a fixed idea of a "my" sound on anyone. Rather will bring out the uniqueness and beauty of your instrument. I think my students should sing music they love and start to apply the technique right away to get the joy of singing!

I am thrilled when a student is able to sing freely and express themselves with ease!

It was really a blessing! I need help with my college auditions and she was great in explaining a lot of complicated concepts in ways that were easier for me to understand and was encouraging when I was struggling. I was really stressed about my auditions and she helped me develop a new perception on my voice and how I perceive it! I feel 5xs more confident in my singing ability and in my auditions after my lessons with her!

Valerie is a fabulous singer with such a rich experience that she shares generously with her students. My experience with her is very helpful with lots of new approches in singing. She is the best!

I very much enjoyed my lessons from Valerie Girard when I was living in Munich. She was personable, encouraging, professional and able to show me by example, with her beautiful voice and technique. I don't regret any money spent on her. Practicing and lessons were a good challenge. I recommend her to serious singers.

I attended Casentino Voice, a summer program Valerie gave. She helped me in just 3 days to find the alignment of my voice. She is so talented and she has a lot of experience that she can find very fast the problema with our technique and work through it. She is also a very good musician, so she has a very good, trained ear.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching on the side with an active performing career first in Germany where I worked in musical theaters all over Europe.  Then I took a teaching position in Koblenz University. Now I run an active studio in New York and became artistic director of an intense summer program in Tuscany Italy called Casentino Voice.

What types of students have you worked with?

Classical, Musical Theater, and Jazz students. I don't work with young children and normally won't take anyone younger than 15.  I prefer working with someone who can read music.
