About

I believe each person is unique and therefore requires a different approach to acting that is specifically catered to their skills and personality. Private coaching is extremely beneficial in finding that unique voice that every artist has. A safe environment in which you can experiment and not feel judged is essential in order to fully explore what you're capable of. Samuel Beckett said it best, "Try again. Fail again. Fail better." By trying choices that don't work and analyzing them, we can find out why they didn't work and that puts us on the path to what might work. Acting can seem like a treacherous battlefield at times, so why not send in the Marines?

I served in the United States Marine Corps before starting my career as an actor. The discipline I developed while in the Marines has helped me tremendously in my professional career. I earned my BA in Theater Performance from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC and my MA in Acting from Drama Centre in London. My credits include: Off-Broadway: Shakespeare in the Park's Julius Caesar (Lucilius), Our Trojan War (Odysseus) at BAM Fisher, Basetrack Live (AJ) at BAM Harvey. International: The Big Knife (Charlie Castle) London, Uncle Vanya (Astrov) Moscow. Film: Two Days Back, The Dark Knight Rises, Halo: Helljumper.

Ive had one session with Tyler so far and plan to continue to learn with him. Ive audited several classes in the city and hadnt totally clicked with any. Im happy to have found this option. I feel like Tylers background and thorough approach to acting is great, for beginners like me or more experienced. He seems to really understand how acting fits into storytelling and how an actor can be apart of that. Definitely would recommend!

Tylers a fantastic coach. He listens to what youre looking to accomplish out of each session and really works to get you there. Ive worked with him specifically for audition prep, monologue work, and character study all of which hes helped me out with tremendously. Hes my go-to acting coach in the city!

Frequently asked questions

When establishing a new working relationship I like to find out what my students are looking to achieve from our sessions by having a quick 15-minute Skype session or phone call. During this time I can assess what their experience level is, any previous training they've had, and whether or not they are working on a specific project. They may not have a clear goal but a general idea of what they want, which is also a great starting point.

I have earned my Bachelors in Theater Performance from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC and my Masters in Acting from Drama Centre in London, UK.

I recently finished a double bill national tour of Hamlet/Sense & Sensibility, which was such an amazing learning experience. One moment on the tour stuck out for me though. We were in Virginia performing Sense & Sensibility, which is a classical piece that is not as well known these days. The audience we had that night not only knew the story but they were also with us every step of the way! The atmosphere was electric and in theater we live for shows like that.
