Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We typically chat for a few minutes either prior to the lesson or on the phone and discuss what they would like to work on and from there I develop a plan of action.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played tennis on the high school and College level for the University of Denver and I currently teach Flag football to kids aged 9 thru 13. I also teach at local highschools.
You have to have a good temperament to teach which is what I think I possess, and I also enjoy working with people and seeing success. For me that's the most important.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is $50 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in camps when I was younger. I began teaching Flag Football in 2016 and from there I became the assistant Coach of the Men's and Women's Varsity tennis teams at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with players from Beginner to intermediate.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
For me, it's not about one event that makes me proud but instead the overall feeling I have when my students succeed based upon what I've taught them.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My best advice would be to have an idea as to what you would like to accomplish and we will work together to reach your goals. Having said that, I am also very good at evaluating someone's game and will always be up front as to what I feel needs work. Keep in mind that once our lesson is over, the real work begins with practice and the time that you put in.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Answering this question really depends upon their level of skill. I am not sure beginners or first timers really know what to expect. For them, they just want to play and learn and it's actually the perfect attitude to have.
Once they move past the beginner level, to the advanced beginner or intermediate, they tend to have more control of what they can do on the court and develop better control of the ball. In this situation, their needs are better served, (no pun intended) and it should become clearer as to what they want.
