About

Hello, I am Hannah Minner. **Please message me at my website- hannahminner.com if you are interested in working with me and contact me through there.*** I am unable to message on this site. Here is my story:

Have you ever felt a calling to sing, yet found yourself uncertain about the steps needed to become the performer you aspire to be? I’ve felt this way, even though I never really had much training to start.

I remember knocking on my high school choir teacher’s door to proclaim to her that I’m going to go to college for music. I fully expected her to be excited, proud even, but instead she answered with “only crazy people go into music.”

This, though surprising, marked my unconventional journey into the world of singing.

Realizing that she didn’t have much to say after that, I tried to do as much as I could to prepare myself on my own. I had no idea what I needed to do to fully know how to be the best I can be. I was taking voice lessons, but the entirety of the lessons were spent on vocal technique.

I really loved opera, but I felt so uncomfortable with acting. I had no idea how to create a character or express myself and I didn’t want to waste the time I needed for vocal development.

In my pursuit of musical knowledge, I acquired a secondhand book on "Music Theory" from a budget bookstore, only to discover that I lacked the foundational understanding to decipher its contents.

By the time I got into college, my professors would scoff at my lack of competence. “What are they teaching you in school?”

Honestly, the music education I received in public school wasn’t much at all. I didn’t even have an elementary music teacher for a few years because they couldn’t fill the position and high school was mostly lessons taught by rote to learn concert music.

This experience opened my eyes to how inconsistent music education can be. Some people can go to a district with the right teacher, the right resources and feel fully equipped to pursue their singing. Others can end up in schools where music is cut as a result of budget constraints.

I firmly believe that numerous talented students go unnoticed, primarily due to a lack of proper guidance. This oversight can affect students in various settings, ranging from those in schools with underdeveloped music programs to students in highly competitive institutions. It can even extend to lifelong learners who have never had the opportunity to fully realize their true potential.

I believe that in order to really reach your full potential, you need more than a talent for singing. There are many things outside of singing that need to be cultivated in order to be the “full package.”

This is why I’m building a program for singers to embrace all aspects of their artistry called “The full package singer: Artistry unleashed.” What I’m building addresses everything a singer needs including:

-Acting and expression coaching.

-Musical proficiency training.

-Strategies for overcoming stage fright.

-Regular experience performing for a community of like-minded singers. A place to feel safe to express yourself through masterclasses.

-Consistent weekly feedback and guidance.

And the best part is that it accommodates busy schedules and frees up your availability to practice and ask questions when you need to.

For the lifelong student who has always wondered what they could do with their voice, don’t give up, it’s never too late to have artistry in your life.

For the student who lacks knowledge and opportunities, know that it’s not that you're not talented. Sometimes it’s just a lack of guidance from the right person.

You may not have a teacher who you resonate with or a way to really grasp what you should be doing in order to improve.

Just because things may not have worked out for you in the past, doesn’t mean you can’t better yourself for the future. You’d be surprised how quick you can improve in just a few weeks.
