Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We teach the principle behind each process. Each recipe is simplified to create a product that is easy to recreate at home without sacrificing flavor. We believe that cooking is for everyone, and the goal of a cooking class should be to empower and have fun.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Jeannie has taught recreational cooking classes in the Columbus are for over ten years. She teaches at Glass Rooster Cannery, Franklin Park Conservatory, and Columbus State Community College. Glass Rooster Cannery is licensed through the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a professional cannery.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Classes are $59-89 per person for groups of four or more. Private classes start at $200. Please email [email protected] for a full list of classes.
How did you get started teaching?
Glass Rooster Cannery opened in 2010 to teach home preserving techniques. We offer gardening and cooking lessons, private cooking events, kids' camps, bus tours and weddings on the farm.
What types of students have you worked with?
We offer classes for all ages. Summer camp for grade school is offered in June and August. Family classes, team building events, bus tours and more can be scheduled on an individual basis. Each of our classes and events are tailored to the participants, and no two events are alike.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently hosted a "Sports Bar Appetizers" class for a family to celebrate the holidays together. Laughter, fun and learning was had by all! These events are my favorite because each recipe becomes personal, every person is engaged, and great memories are created throughout the evening.
