Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session will invovle me gauging their comfort level and ability in the pool. We will play get to know you games and there will be prizes for the students. After that, all lesson plans include a progression of skills, water games, and a review of water safety procedures.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Lifeguard training
AED/CPR training
Certified Water Safety Instructor
2 years experience
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$15 Per Half Hour or $20 for 40 minutes. I tend to not go above a 40 minute lesson because young children can become tired easily in the water and I find that the lesson is not effective after 40 minutes. I recommended two half hour lessons per week for the best results!
How did you get started teaching?
Working as a swim instructor at a day camp in New York
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages 1 through 12 but trained for all age groups
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Working at an After School program at a Charter school in Columbus. When the students finally came back on campus and we were able to enjoy in-person programming it was great to see kids being kids again!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the student has fun during lessons! Having fun makes learning much more effective and enjoyable
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Feel free to ask me anything, no question is silly or too small
