Jenni Rose Voice Studio
About
Jenni Rose has been singing since she was six years old and recently received her Bachelor's degree in music from Oklahoma City University. Her education not only prepared her to be a professional singer, but a well-rounded musician with advanced knowledge of music theory and how to teach proper singing technique to students. Jenni teaches to the age and musical level of the student, from elementary to adult, from beginner to advanced. Being fresh out of school, she knows what is currently expected of young singers hoping to break into the industry or hoping to get a music degree of their own.
NOTE: My student's reviews are posted on my Thumbtack profile, and with permission, on my website: jennirosemusic.com
My favorite thing about the work I do is helping people bloom into the artists I know they can be. Every vowel fixed, every song perfected, every "a-ha!" moment gives me all the purpose in the world. I love the problem solving nature and human connection that comes with teaching. I wouldn't want to be doing anything else!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I will get to know the person I am teaching and ask a few simple questions. For young students and/or beginners, I will begin teaching basic music knowledge as a whole with an emphasis on voice. For older and/or intermediate students, I will focus more on proper singing technique starting with posture and breathing with more advanced music theory and ear training. For my advanced students, I will work on repertoire with the student and anything else the student needs to further his or her singing knowledge.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I had 12 years of formal vocal lessons, music classes, and performance experience before I even started my degree in music at Oklahoma City University. While completing my degree, I took a four month course on Vocal Pedagogy, a class on how to teach singing to students. Now that I have graduated, I have continued my own personal education reading and rereading books and textbooks about proper singing technique, complete with continued voice lessons of my own.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The quoted price is my average per lesson, but I charge a FLAT RATE PER MONTH of lessons, not per lesson. Typically, upfront, you would pay:
One month of 30min lessons: $85
One month of 45min lessons: $127.50
One month of 60min lessons: $170
You are guaranteed a certain amount of lessons per "semester", adjusted to the time lessons have started. This helps account for unexpected missed lessons, having more than four lessons in a month, etc., and eliminates having to calculate every month how much is owed. This is thoroughly discussed on the first lesson going over the studio policy. If you have any questions before our first lesson, please feel free to message me.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching voice in Houston, TX during the summer months in college. I also helped coach a few friends with their professional work in college and as a requirement of my Vocal Pedagogy class.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have been fortunate to have worked with every type of student, from 6 years old to 60 years old, from classical, church music to Indie Rock and RnB. Having to adjust my teaching styles and approach to meet each student’s needs has been an exciting and fun challenge.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My best two gems of advice would be 1. make sure you find a teacher who has studied body mapping/anatomy, and has a full understanding of how the body works while singing; and 2. if you find a teacher who doesn't "groove" with you, find a new one. Singing is a very intimate and vulnerable act that requires a lot of trust between teacher and pupil. If you don't get along with your teacher, your singing will show it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Honestly, if you want to sing just for the fun of it, because you love it, because you want to learn a new skill, because for the first time in your life it's a moment to focus on YOU, then do it! The teacher will do the hard thinking for you. :)
