I run the only Suzuki Guitar studio on the west side of the greater Portland metro area. The program consists of weekly individual and group lessons, in which students learn not only the key skills of classical guitar, but reading and music theory as well. I have been involved in the Suzuki Guitar community for over 15 years. A classically trained musician has the knowledge and technique to adapt to any style of music, and benefits from the well documented neurological and developmental advantages that formal music study provides.
Celeste has been an awesome teacher! I actually first contacted her for my son, but I was getting a little ahead of myself. My son is not even 2! :) So she encouraged me to take lessons as it would be great for when my son is finally old enough. I'm so glad I signed up. I've been wanting to take lessons for a long time anyway. She's super patient and goes at my pace, and really funny! :) I always walk away feeling like I've progressed and have clear instructions on what I need to work on. I really recommend her!
Wonderful approach to learning. One of the most patient attention to detail oriented teachers I’ve ever seen. If your serious about learning classical guitar look no further.
Celeste has been teaching our two sons (age 6 and 10) for 6 months. She is friendly, knowledgeable and patient. The boys enjoy both their private and group lessons with her. In addition to teaching classical guitar repertoire, Celeste is giving the boys a great foundation for music by teaching solfage, scales, and general performance etiquette. I highly recommend her if you are interested in learning classical guitar. She is great with adults, too. I am taking lessons from her!
My son is really thriving in his guitar classes with Celeste!
Since parents are an integral part of the Suzuki Method, the parent, or home coach who will accompany the child to lessons, come to the studio to observe the lesson of a curent member of the program. Then the parent/home coach enrolls in the Parent Education Course. This Course includes a brief history of the Suzuki Method, my personal teaching philosopy, the logistics of the program, and the roles and responsibilities of the parent, the student, and the teacher. Then correct size instrument for the child is determined, (I have instruments of several sizes available to rent on a month to month basis), and then the child and parent begin attending individual and group lessons on a weekly basis.
