About
I am available at any time to answer questions about music, your instrument, scheduling, or anything else! I accept payment by the week, month, or however it's convenient for you to pay. Parents are invited into my living room where they can read, nap, or use wifi to catch up on work.
I teach private lessons full time, and also perform and coach ensembles. I love getting to know students of all ages on a personal level, and helping them progress in the most suitable way for them. Keeping it interesting each week and making sure the student is having fun while learning are the top priorities for me!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'll give you a copy of my lesson policy and expectations, with FAQ's included. I will play with the student a bit to assess their strengths and weaknesses, then let you know if there are books you need to buy. Parents are welcome and encouraged to be part of our first few lessons, ask questions, and share your goals for the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied with notable teachers all over the US and in Europe. I attend workshops around the country as continuing education and professional development. I earned a BFA in Cello Performance from Central Washington University, studying with John Michel.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Cello Lessons:
30 minutes = $35
45 minutes = $45
60 minutes = $55
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching while still in college (circa 2009) earning my music performance degree. My professor asked me to take on non-major students so he could focus on teaching the cello performance majors. I discovered that I love teaching people in a private setting, because it allows me to focus on their specific needs and goals.
What types of students have you worked with?
I particularly enjoy teaching adults. However I accept all ages, including kids as young as 5. I've also worked with many kids and adults with learning diabilities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I know lessons are expensive. I keep that in mind every time you come and make sure you're getting as much out of each lesson as possible.
Here's what you should keep in mind: You are not only paying for the hour I spend with you, you are paying for the expertise. I've devoted my entire life to becoming an expert musician. I've taken lessons since 3rd grade, gone to instensive camps, enrolled in every music extracurricular available, spent hundreds of thousands of hours practicing, performed more times than I can count... all so that I can be as good as I am today.
