                          Jeff Raffie Bio
Jeff Raffie started studying the trumpet at age 10. At age 14, he began studying the guitar and 4 years later, at age 18 he began learning the bass.  Seeing the Beatles on TV opened his eyes to the world of music which inspired him to become a musician. Jeff played in school bands (rock/jazz/concert) all throughout his middle and high school years. He went to Jersey City State College and the Julliard School of Music.  Jeff studied trumpet with Edward Truetel at Julliard and Jerome Callet in New York City. He studied guitar in music stores in the Northern New Jersey area. He also studied Jazz with a well known instructor and performer from the Philadelphia area, Joe Mass.  Jeff started performing on a weekly basis when he was 16 and has continued his weekly performing to this day. He currently plays the guitar, trumpet and is the Musical Director with one of the most well known Tri-State wedding, Club, and Party Bands ‘The Chatter Band.’  Jeff is also a musical director for teenage rock bands. He has worked with a group called ‘Lil Rock’  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nas6Mrqz9gA.
Jeff has been with the Chatter Band for 28 years. His band had opened  for many Philadelphia events. They have played the national anthem  for many sporting events and performed at  Welcome America (Philadelphia’s Fourth of July Celebration).
Jeff was given the opportunity 35 years ago to teach a private lesson. He then realized how great of an experience it was giving lessons and giving the gift of music to a student that he began teaching more often.  He believes every student, no matter what level they are, is capable of learning and enjoying the instrument they are playing.  Jeff’s style of teaching comes from his past instructors as well as his many years of hands on experience as a teacher, performer, studio musician and a student. His lessons include every facet of learning(theory, composing, improvising, ear training, reading , and all techniques) that are necessary  to keep the student interested , inspired, and driven to become the best player they can be.
