Cory Paternoster Drum Lessons
About
Hello! My name is Cory Paternoster and I am a private drum instructor based in Lancaster Pa. My passion for drumming was instilled early on in my own experience with lessons and I strive with each student to make their experience unique to them while still provding the foundations necessary to build upon their own creativity. I started out giving marching percussion lessons in high school and after going to college for music performance and music recording I started my own teaching business out of some local music shops while recording bands and gigging professionally. Now I own my own teaching studio where I teach in person and virtual lessons.
My lessons include learning everything there is to know about rhythms and how to apply to the kit via proper technique. Along with that, I bring the experiences that I've gained from recording, gigging, songwriting, and production to the table in order to teach not just drums but creativity. I don't teach you how to be a drummer, I teach you how to be a musician.
Along with my two degrees in music I have along been actively gigging and recording for about 10 years as well as touring all over the country. For more info about me or to hear the bands that I've played with and recorded you can visit my website www.corypaternoster.com

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we start by figuring out exactly why they started having a interest in drumming; any particular band/song/person? What makes you want to play drums and how can we make learning tie back to that. Then we'll go over basic fundamentals like technque and rhythm reading. Usually I like to use familiar songs throughout to relate lessons to how it is applied in actual music.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a two bachelors degrees; one in music recording and one in music performance. I also have been taking lessons for 10+ years and continue to take lessons myself to constantly be improving for myself and my students.
