I have been playing drums and guitar for about 20 years. From playing in high school marching band to playing music festivals, I have many years of experience playing drums, guitar, singing and songwriting professionally as well as 5+ years as a professional music teacher. I take a fun, organic approach to teaching music, helping teach the necessary fundamentals as well as guide the student to find their own creative voice.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with the fundamentals of how to play drums as well as reading rhythm, ususally starting out on a snare dum or drum pad. Focus first on how to hold the drum sticks correctly and how to coordinate your hands while reading rhythm. From there we slowly start to incorporate more of the drumset.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played drums for 15+ years. I was trained in how to play in school as well as private lessons. I have played in the school band, marching band as well as multiple gigging bands since 2008.
How did you get started teaching?
I started out teaching one of my friends the fundamentals of rhythm and time a few years ago and now he is the bass player for our band "Hepner's Rebellion."
