I learned that I had a pain for ballroom dancing at a social level long before I decided to make a career out of it, and that passion extends to helping others discover and develop their own pain for dancing. There are few things that I find more satisfying than turning someone on to dancing in general, or on to a dance they previously thought they'd never enjoy.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A new student can book private lessons, join us at the studio for a Friday Night Practice Party, or start with a discounted Intro Package to find out what dances they enjoy!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Louise Lamar (owner) is nationally renowned as a ballroom dancer and ballroom dance instructor, and is licensed, accredited, and adjudicated. Between Louise Lamar (advanced instructor) and Chuck Myers (introductory instructor), Louise Lamar Dance Studio sports over 60 years of combined experience dancing and teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private Lessons vary depending on Instructor and whether a lesson is booked at the studio or an instructor travels to another location to teach.
The studio's discounted Intro Package consists of 3 private lessons for $99: These lessons are generally used to learn the basics of some of the offered dances so new students can determine which dances interest them.
The studio also offers weekly practice parties on Friday nights which only cost $10/person.
How did you get started teaching?
Louise Lamar has danced since she was a child, and has been teaching for nearly as long.
What types of students have you worked with?
Louise Lamar Dance Studio works with virtually anyone and everyone looking to learn Ballroom Dancing: all ages; all experience levels; for weddings; for competitions; for social dancing.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Many people claim to be ballroom dance instructors, but often have no professional training. Look for signs of professional experience; certifications and certificates of recognition, trophies from competitions, etc.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are you looking to learn to dance for? Do you just want to be able to dance socially when you go out? Do you want to be ready for an upcoming wedding or other function? Are you interested in going to competitions? Are you just looking to get some exercise, relieve stress, or learn a new skill? Just looking for a nice date night?
All these considerations help us teach you.
