Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always start a student from where they are. The process begins with learning proper posture, breathing, diction, and the difference in incorrect and correct phonation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in music performance, a master's degree in music performance, and extensive performance time myself performing musical theater and opera.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Initial half-hour lesson is free of charge
$25/hour for lessons on an as needed basis.
$100/month for weekly half-hour lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I began to question the ways in which I needed to get better and in doing so I figured out that I loved the challenge of figuring out how to sing as much as I loved to sing.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who sing in rock bands, musical theater groups, classical singers, and general musicians who sing contemporary commercial music.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is the teacher educated and well versed in vocal pedagogy?
Does the teacher work with multiple ages or just a select range?
Is the teacher willing to provide references, or let the student witness a lesson or have a "try-out" lesson for free?
