Trey let’s me learn at my own pace but keeps me challenged and it’s always interesting

Trey is very easygoing as a teacher but his lessons are well thought out and thorough. He is a keen observer and with the first lesson gave me feedback on technique that helped my playing. Trey will also readily respond to questions between lessons and give feedback. Sessions with Trey fire up my passion for the guitar and make me want to practice.. He is a great teacher.

How did you get started teaching?

When i was teaching classroom music lessons at the Charles Armstrong School i had students ask me for lessons and i began private lessons at that time.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Taking a first grader through her lessons and she turned to me and said " this is SO fun "--made my day !

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find one that will taylor make their lessons to benefit you and not some regimented,by -the-book,cookie-cutter approach.

I teach students to learn from manuscript as well as teaching them how to play by ear so they can learn their own songs off of Spotify or YouTube

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
