FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Everyone starts off with our beginner special of 6 Weeks of Classes and a FREE T-shirt for $69!  This is plenty of time for your child to make sure they love the classes, and for you to make sure your child is gets the benefits from our classes that you want for them!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm a 5th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, and I have a Ph.D. in psychology. I've had my martial art school for 30 years now, right here in Grand Prairie!  The instructors who teach our classes today started taking classes with me when they were 5-8 years old!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Beginner Trial Special - 6 Weeks for $69 and a FREE T-shirt.

After the trial, price ranges from $79 - $119 per month, depending on the age of the child and the program.

We do NOT use contracts!

How did you get started teaching?

I loved two things as a teenager -- kids, and martial arts!  When I was 17 and a Junior in high school (at South Grand Prairie High School), I combined my two loves by opening a school and teaching martial arts to kids!  The rest is history. :-)

What types of students have you worked with?

Ages 3 - 70. From shy to super outgoing! From needing to become more fit, to extremely athletic!  From kiddos who's parents want more confidence for them, to more focus, to better fitness, to self-defense, to wanting self-control for their child with ADHD -- we've had ALL types of students!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Check out their reputation NOT in martial arts, but with children. Anyone who knows enough martial arts can teach martial arts, but NOT everyone can work effectively with children.

Find a school where the classes are strict and disciplined so that your child will learn the focus and discipline that you want for them, and JUST as important - make sure the classes are FUN!  Kids won't learn and won't want to return, if they're not having FUN!

If the classes are taught by a very skilled children's instructor, they'll be able to make sure the classes are disciplined (no talking, running around, playing); and yet super fun and exciting -- that way the child doesn't even realize that the'yre learning to be disciplined and focused!  :-)
