MFlagg's Choreography
About
I have over 26 years of dance experience and 14 years of experience in teaching children.
I have experience with teaching children of all ages and have worked in various environments, such as day care, Sunday school, and teaching dance at several studios and public schools across Austin and San Antonio. My experience includes dance, musical theatre, lighting, production and staging. For the past five years I have been working as a Fine Arts Dance teacher, Dance Team Director and Cheer Coach. I am also an independent choreography and judge for various contests and team/officer tryouts around Austin/San Antonio area.
My years of dance experience has fortunately left me with an extremely diverse background. I have had the opportunity to teach young dancers, starting at 3 years of age, as well as the adult dancers over 18 years of age. I am originally from San Antonio, and grew up taking dance at TJ’s Dance Factory. I have trained in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acro, voice, clogging, modern and musical theatre. I am now part of TDEA and attend conventions and workshops in order to continually learn, not just for myself but for my prospective students.
I have a Texas Teacher dance certification for 8th-12th grade. I have choreographed countless routines for football season, contest season and winter and spring recitals. I will have taught over 2,500 dancers, from beginners to advanced. Many of my students have gone on to continue their dance and cheer education, such as staff positions for UCA and HTE, Texas A&M Corpus Christi Dance Team, Apache Belles, UT Pom Squad, Texas State Strutters, etc.
Currently I am part of the Vision in Motions Company, which is part of the Tapestry brand. Being part of this company helps me to stay current with the ever evolving dance world.
Through my 14 years of teaching dance, the part I love the most is to watch a student learn and grasp a challenging step or choreography and overcome it. The best part about teaching is the ability to share something you love.
