I truly love teaching. I love seeing a student's eyes light up when they suddenly see an improvement in their tone or pitch...when they understand a concept I'm explaining...when they perform a selection at recital and get compliments for the first time. I love turning to a parent during a lesson to see tears of joy in their eyes. There's just too much joy in my work to fully describe!

How did you get started teaching?
I had requests from friends and acquaintances and from theater contacts to provide private lessons. So I began a small studio. in 2014, I retired from a full-time business position and decided to actively start a voice studio. I get most of my students from Google Ads.
What types of students have you worked with?
Musical Theater performers, High school students with both Classical music and Musical Theater goals. With young children using a special study which does not tax a young child's vocal abilities. I coach many people just for auditions or performances. I've had students entering "The Voice" and "America's Got Talent" as well as preparing teens and adults auditioning for area musical theater productions.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I offer students performance opportunities twice a year...a more formal recital in April and a more relaxed Christmas Cabaret in early December for friends and family. Our first annual Cabaret was held on December 3rd 2017 and featured fun, crazy and traditional Christmas tunes. My students did such a great job.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think it's good to plan time to just talk and get to know the teacher. That is why I offer my free initial consultation.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Does this teacher understand what I want/need?
Does this teacher actually teach what I want/need?
