Ripples & Waves

About

We focus on safety for all first. Water safety is important because it is the 2nd leading accidental fatallity in children. We want to help decrease that number by equipping children and adults with the skills and knowledge they need in and around water.

I have been a certified water safety/Swim Instructor for 4 years. This will be my second year of service for operating the program.

I am also a certified educator with over 10 years of experience. Education is also a life saving skill. Learning basics of knowledge is critical. So we also provide tutoring in addition to our sessions.

I enjoy the fact that I’m passing along a skill that could possibly save a life in a life-threatening situation. Children need to be equip with academic and water safety skills early on. It’s not too late for adults who take the initiative to learn water safety skills. It pleasures me that I can provide the opportunity to them. It’s a very safe and responsible decision to learn how to maneuver in and around water.

My kids went to her class last year, 12yrs and 4yrs girls. I was surprised they remembered what they learned when I took them swimming at my moms. A year later, it was amazing!

This program was affordable, and child friendly. My daughter started at 2years old and she is quite a flipper now.

    Frequently asked questions

I usually like to meet the student before instruction begins to build a relationship. They will know what I expect of them, what they will learn, and what I expect of myself. That way our time in the water together is more effective and efficent.

My background in teaching is a big supporting factor for my ability to teaching these necessary skills to others. Also certified through Red Cross for the past 4 years.

I have group lessons that are $60. These are small groups with no more than 6 people. (M, W,F) & (T, TR, F) For 2 weeks. 6 Lessons

Private lessons are available on Tuesday,Thursdays, some Friday afternoons for 30 minutes. ($75) for 4 days

Last day of instruction for 2018 is August 9.

I have always taught relatives to swim since  I was able to drive. I would try a car full of children to our family lakehouse pool. I was the aunt or cousin the children always gravitated to and they would trust me to jump in the water by themselves or to show them a new skill in the water.

So I thought that I must have a gift and I can share it with everyone.

I am very fond of pool parties. I am definitely a water baby when it comes to swim pools. I am very fond of seeing progress in this program. Students who come in terrified of the water are exploring the water away from the walls to where the water is up to their neckline. They show no fear and try to incorporate skills they have been taught to save themselves.

Be willing to learn what they are willing to teach you. They obviously have something you are looking for so be grateful for whatever they are willing to share with you. Be sure the teacher can tell you what you will be expected to learn by the end of your sessions, requirements, dangers, and emergency plans. They should be able to tell you best ways or practices for any given skill.

Be specific in what you are expecting from the teacher and session.

Ask about routines, safety protocols, times, and communication channels.
