Maddie Hoch Swim Lessons
About
I have been a competitive swimmer since I was 6. I swam at the Divison 1 level for four years and was an NCAA qualifier as well as an AAC medalist in numerous events. I am eager to share my knowledge with upcoming swimmers who are hoping to improve their techniques in order to achieve personal bests in their favorite races.
I enjoy helping swimmers who feel they have no where to improve learn new techniques they may not have though of in order to move more efficiently through the water. I know how hard it is to get 1 on 1 attention at swim practice, so I am here to help swimmers receive that necessary technique critique and encourage them to work on the skills they learn in every practice.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will sit down and discuss what their focus is on. Every athlete has their own preferences on what they like to race and where they would like to see improvement. After this, I will watch them swim these strokes in order to get a better look at their current technique. From there I will give them drills that I feel will help them improve the areas I feel can benefit them the most. As they become more advanced in one area we will work on other areas that they wish to improve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my own personal experience in swimming as well as the few years I gave lessons in high school. I feel that it is best for swimmers to learn from one another, as we have been through the same experience and can relate to each other on a different level rather than a swim coach who has been out of the pool for years. The sport changes and it is important to stay up to date on current trends and rules.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 for a half hour session and $50 for an hour. If you purchase 5x1 hour sessions at once you get a $50 discount ($200 instead of $250).
What types of students have you worked with?
I prefer to work with students that are capable of swimming all four strokes and are looking to improve their techniques as well as competitive athletes who are seeking to enhance their technique to be more efficient when moving through the water.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for an instructor who has the same goals in mind for you that you do. If you want to become a faster swimmer based on your technique, find someone who will focus on your stroke. If you want someone to write you intense workouts, find someone who is skilled in that area. My focus is on improving technique because I feel that swimmers get enough training at their club team practices.
