About
Hello, my name is Christopher J Serrano. Thank you for checking out my profile! I am a third generation drummer/percussionist serving the greater southwest region of the US with the intent of spreading the message of rhythm and music to the masses. I have collaborated and performed with many great musicians from around the world and would love to share my concepts and experience with others. I believe that everyone has rhythm, an internal time as unique as our own individual heartbeat, that drives us to feel music and enjoy all that it has to offer.
If you are interesting in the world of rhythm, drums, percussion, and the study of musical time, please reach out. Lets talk and find a way to reach your goals and aspirations as a rhythmist.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I truly believe that everyone learns at their own pace, engaged by different styles and approaches unique to the individual. The goal is to become comfortable with the envirnment while always striving to become a little better through adversity, every time you are behind the kit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being a full time performer and session musician, I bring every learning experience on stage and in the studio to the classroom, exposing my students to the music world in the hope of influencing creation and creativity.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing for individual and group lessons are as follows:
One-on-One (in person)- $30 per half hour
$45 per Hour
**Discounts(Monthly)** -$100 per four 30min sessions
$150 per four 1hr sessions
*Skype and Q&A phone sessions are available upon request*
*Group lessons available as well with rates set to class size*
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching informally to friends and music peers in high school, acquiring my first formal student right after graduating.
What types of students have you worked with?
Drums have always been a part of my life in some way, throughout the years I have been blessed to share my passion with people of all walks of life. Whether it has been one of my devoted students of multiple years or someone asking me to explain a groove right after stepping off of the stage, I love the feeling of sharing what has been passed down to me by my father and other greats.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had the priviledge of being a coach for Basketball in the Barrio 2017, leading groups in drum circles and rhythmic instruction to illustrate communication and the beauty of making improvised music.
At Basketball in the Barrio, children from Segundo Barrio and Chamizal neighborhoods participate in El Paso’s annual summer camp where they gain leadership, literary and basketball skills while celebrating border culture. -http://basketballinthebarrio.org/
