Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, listen to their initial needs and wants and then set a plan/schedule to start making art.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been doing art on and off for 30 years. I love all different forms of art and have tried them all. I took 4 years of art in school and currently teach art for T.E.A.C.H. Cleburne to kids age 10-18.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally find it easier to price by the hour or by the week/month depending on the student’s needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I was offered a job at T.E.A.C.H. Cleburne and the rest is history.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kids 10-18 as well as adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Looking at all of my student’s finishing art and seeing how proud of it they are.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at what kind of work they do on their free time to ensure it’s what you are wanting to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How long it will take to complete the art they want to create. This will reflect the cost and time the student is spending. Also reinforcing that any skill takes time and patience. It’s important the student doesn’t get discouraged because they don’t progress right away.
