I enjoy bringing a student up from beginner to black belt and watching them grow in the process. Martial arts changes how people think and helps in all areas of their lives. I have seen teens go from street gang mentality to college graduate. My honor comes from making a difference in someones life. I am not a commercial instructor and I don't teach for a living. My purpose is to teach true and pure martial arts to the students as opposed to selling belts or making the student believe he/she has acheived the skill levels of belts for the sake of paying the rent. Belts are earned and not charged for.

The instructors focus on practical self defense training. The time spent training feels like it is going towards actually improving my ability to defend myself, rather than being a waste of time. The instructors are patient and knowledgeable and work to help everyone improve. Ive been training with KSDS for nearly 10 years and plan to continue for as long as possible.

Grand Master Gonzales is the highest quality teacher, in both life and martial arts. I have the utmost respect for him as a human being, mentor and teacher. His love of Kajukembo and martial arts is incorporated into his lessons. Whether you are a beginner with no experience (as I once was) or an advanced black belt, GM Gonzales understands where youre at in the learning cycle and teaches you where you need to improve. A great class for beginners! I was very lucky to have discovered KSDS when I was searching for a martial arts class in the summer of 2007. In the martial arts community, Kajukembo is known for its effectiveness in self-defense and KSDS is known for our incredible lineage and quality. This class honors the original methods as taught by our founders and evolves as we look ahead. I highly recommend KSDS. You will not find a better quality instructor, lineage and system.

Very adaptive and fluid. Real techniques for real situations. Classes are small with lots of individual attention. This is the REAL THING, not play.

Frequently asked questions

Students are taught an introductory class and asked to try the class before enrolling.

40+ years in martial arts, trained in various methods.

Classes are $60 per month. Private classes available and priced according to scheduled classes. No contracts!

Will explain during interview

Students willing to put the time and work into learning a new art. I teach ages 13 and up

Try it first always and seek an instructor who is willing to teach as opposed to making money. A good instructor will not charge for belt tests or have you sign a contract. Also avoid scheduled belt tests. It is up to the student to put the time and work into the training and each student will progess differently. True black belt skills takes several years to acheive. The belt isn't what makes you profficient in the art and many instructors will gladly "sell" you the belts.

1. Are contracts required

2. Are belt tests scheduled

3. How long does it take to achive black belt

4. Can I try it first to see if I will like it

A true instructor cannot tell you how long it will take you to acheive black belt. It is up to the student to determine how hard he/she will work and how much time they will put into practicing.
