About Kim's Tang Soo Do School
Kim's Tang Soo Do is a family-oriented martial arts school focused on cultivating discipline, instilling confidence and teaching respect. We are a light to no contact martial arts program. No contact allows for learning and experimentation of various techniques during fighting. Light contact teaches to protect oneself and the distance required to make contact with an opponent. We will not however hit each other with intention to harm. When you join our program you will become a part of our family and we always protect our family. Each student will be encouraged to live by our five tenants which are:
· Courtesy: treating others with dignity and respect.
· Integrity: Strong adherence to a code of right and wrong.
· Perseverance: To never give up.
· Self-Control: Discipline over ones actions and emotions.
· Indomitable Spirit: An inner self incapable of being overcome.

How did you get started teaching?
While in High School I was asked to fill in for an instructor at a school in Cashmere WA. because the teacher was taking over another school in larger town. The student liked me so much that they asked their instructor to let me take over full time.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of varing ages from 4yrs and up. We generally accept students at 5yrs or older. I have also worked with many adults as well as students with mild forms of Autism.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently were honored by the City of Watauga for being a valued business in hteir city for 15years and we held an Open House to celebrate.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say that the most important thing about hiring a Martial Arts instructor is to feel comfortable with the person who will be teaching you or your children. Especlially in the case children a Martial arts Instructor can have a profound influence on a child so ask yourself this question: IF my child starts to mimic this person is that a good thing or a bad thing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think it is important to view the school you will be looking to enroll into. Many schools out there only care about the money you will pay them and once you are enrolled they will no longer care about you or your needs. Therefore take a trial class or view thier classes and see how skilled the students are. Talk to the instructor and get a feel for him as a person you may begin to look up to. Its important that you fell a sense of family.
