About
My name is Thom H. and I have been a professional guitarist since I was in high school. I have done countless performances locally and toured with "name" Artists extensively. I also have been heavily involved in the recording scene here in Nashville and DFW and Los Angeles. I came to DFW area to attend the renowned University Of North Texas School Of Music where I recieved a Bachelor of Music degree and also was offered a scholarship for guitar and my group won Downbeat Magazine Jazz/Rock group of the year. I have been teaching and developing my craft as a guitar instructor that entire time. I also have been involved with music at many Churches over the years.
The guitar lessons are custom designed for each individual guitar student, and are geared towards each guitar student’s individual needs and goals. Usually we meet once per week, this gives students time to develop what we are working on. Although a correct mixture of technique, theory (musical knowledge) are taught along with other skills, emphasis is put on hearing correctly and PLAYING. The songs we play can be anywhere from modern to classic to whatever. My students are all levels and can be anywhere from beginner to pro. I used to categorically say no to any Skype/Facetime type requests, however now that I have done it so much I am now a big believer in the Skype/FaceTime process.
Countless years of experience as a guitar teacher as well as touring and recording.
The way to get good at guitar is simple if you do the right things. The goal of course is to find your goals and work towards them. I believe we all will do the things which we find interesting. Beginners on up should be trying to have fun while learning while pro students should be systematically working through the important skills.
