Drumming With Mike Baez

I've been teaching since 2003 in the San Antonio area. I teach snare drum (rudimental and orchestral), drum set, and marimba.

I am now providing my drum and percussion teaching services to Stone Oak, Boerne, and surrounding areas in the comfort of your home.

My first objective is to understand what the student wants to learn and what his or her goals are. This gives me a solid foundation on how to structure their lessons.

I have a general process I use to teach. I start by making sure the students understand the proper fundamentals of developing hand and foot technique for efficiency, speed, and injury prevention. I then go into reading music which helps the students understand what they are doing. And finally, I go into playing music whether it's for self-enjoyment or their school band. This is a very condensed version of what I teach, and I also make specific adjustments depending on the students' needs. I want my students to be well-rounded, as opposed to just learning songs but not really knowing what they are doing.

Ultimately my goal is to create great drummers and percussionists with their goals in mind.
