Ian Sayers Swim Coaching
About
I am a competition swimmer who has participated in various levels of the sport ranging from High-school State level competition, to Eastern Regional Competition, as well as in USA and Invitational meets. Beyond that I have coached two swim teams, the Brook Valley Barracudas in Greenville, NC, as well as the North West Jr. Panthers pre-comp Team here in Salt Lake. I also currently work as a swim instructor for the North West Recreation Center, and further take on the roles of Lifeguard and Water Polo Coach. Additionally, I am SSI certified for lessons.
My teaching style is typically in water for younger swimmers and those wishing to improve upon their technique, and on deck for swimmers seeking more of a physical challenge. I primarily focus on technique with all of my swimmers, because regardless of skill level or desire for competition in the sport I believe all swimmers should be taught properly as swimming is not only an athletic skill, but also a life skill.
Finally, my personality could mainly be described as encouraging, I want nothing but the best for my swimmers regardless of who they are and what their goals may be. I am passionate about my work, patient and understanding, with a tendency to pour as much of my time into the individual needs of each client as I possibly can. Finally, I am not afraid to push anyone, from competition swimmers looking to set their new personal best, all the way to young children, whose first challenge may be facing a fear of water.
