About

Hello!

My name is Elizabeth Garrell and I have been a professional singer for over 25 years and a vocal teacher for 10 years.

Trained under a plethora of genres including opera, musical theatre, pop, gospel, and country. My first love is R&B followed by musical theatre, but I truly can teach you whatever you like!

Performed with various bands as a lead singer, held both lead and supporting roles in musical theatre, and recording artist with three original albums and backing vocalist as well as featured vocalist for demos. Majority of time training and performing in NYC for 10 years, four years in Nashville, eight years in Charleston, SC, and everywhere in between (especially as a lead singer for a touring band πŸ˜„).

The only thing I love more than singing is dancing, my other first love. I can teach you that, too! Even if it's just to feel comfortable dancing at a club or wedding. You don't have to be a professional dancer to get down!

I will be happy to speak with you regarding your needs, timetable, goals, and budget.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Let's do this.

With sincere gratitude,

Elizabeth

Frequently asked questions

The very first part of the process is to set up a phone call! It will most likely be around 10-15 minutes to get to know you a bit before we meet for your lesson. When we meet for the lesson, it will not be a band rehearsal. Ha ha. It will mainly be me and you working on warming up your voice, paying attention to your posture and breath control, and focusing on your level of comfort. This will be the first 30-40 minutes. The remainder of the lesson will be working on your chosen songs! This is my favorite part because that is when YOUR personality really shines!
I have a cognate in Voice from USC, lead vocalist in touring bands for 20 years, lead and supporting roles in musical theatre for 40 years, and, of course training in voice for over 30 years.
The first lesson is $50 and $75 for any future lessons.
It began simply as someone telling me they wished they could sing. I told them I could help them and the rest is musical history!
Mostly students ranging from 18-60. However, I believe I can help anyone at any age how to find their voice and musicality.
I am fond of all moments when I help people. It is truly beautiful to see someone's face light up when they "get" it and the notes come out better than they could have imagined!
Don't be scared, don't judge yourself, and don't put it off. Regret is a painful feeling.
What they want from the lesson, what genre of music they would like to sing, and future singing goals. I always like to have the student choose three songs they would like to sing. Two within their range and one that they don't believe they could sing.
