About
I am a yoga teacher and Certified Aquatic Fitness Professional. I have 10+ years of experience teaching in the water, from Water Aerobics, Aqua Tabata, Aqua Zumba, Aqua Boxing, Deep Water Cardio, and HIIT modalities to Aqua Yoga, Stretch, and Balance classes tailored for participants struggling with Arthritis or recovering from injury.
My experience as a swim instructor and my patience with kids allow my students to develop the skills they need to learn the strokes they want to perfect. I love teaching swimming not only because it's a lifesaving skill but also because it's a great way to stay active. My favorite drill to teach is floating on the surface of the water.
Water has therapeutic qualities that can lower blood pressure and provide a low-impact environment, allowing for less joint stress. The equipment I use ranges from pool noodles to barbells, floatation belts, and various resistance tools.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess their abilities and work through their limitations to create a balance and an environment that is safe and comfortable for them to explore.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a WSI certified and I've been teaching swimming lessons to all age groups since 2012 at Fairfax County Park Authority, and Arlington County. I'm also certified to teach water exercise classes to adults
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing depends on travel time.
How did you get started teaching?
I love swimming, so every time I went to the pool there was a lesson going on. One day I was talking to one of the instructors and she was telling me how they never have enough teachers available, so I took the training and got hired within a month.
What types of students have you worked with?
In my "Baby and Me" classes the youngest was 6 months old and in some of my water aerobics classes the oldes was 94, so I have experience with all age groups
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was just showing a 7 year old girl at the pool how it wasn't scary to put her face in the water and a short 30 minutes later she was showing off to everyone how she can swim under water
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try different instrictors, as everyone has a different style of teaching and methods of working through challenges. If the student is not happy with the instruction they get, they're less likely to progress
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is my end goal and what do I want to achieve?
How much time am I willing to spend working on this and how much of that time I want to spend with my instructor?
