Certified Swim Lessons
About
I work in a Recreation Center where I am constantly teaching lessons. I am looking to do my own teaching on the side. I was a competitive swimmer and became a lifeguard during Highschool. Water safety and skills are extremely important with all the water areas we have. I have been a swimming instructor for over three years now and have had numerous successful students. I am certified through the American Red Cross for teaching swim lessons.
Swimming is something near and dear to me. I enjoy being able to help others learn to be competent and safe in the water through swimming lessons.

What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with almost all ages from three year olds to seventy year olds. I have had students with no experience to students that wanted lessons to help prepare for for Tri-atholons.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
During the school year, I get to be a part of the Virginia Beach program called Students on the Swim (S.O.S.) where I and other instructors are able to teach second grade public students to swim. I really enjoy this program because it allows me to help keep children safe around the water even when they wouldn't normally get a chance to have a proper swimming education
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It's important to have an experienced teacher as there are many different and creative ways to help students learn. In regards to a fear of swimming, a knowledgeable teacher will be better suited to help the student overcome their fear.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What are your goals?
2. Are you willing to practice on your own to help yourself learn?
