About
RVA Tennis Lessons provides intuitive and interactive coaching of tennis technique, tennis strategy and tennis specific fitness training. Students are accurately assessed and provided with an outline of focal points to achieve their peak performance.
Personally I am a former Division 1 tennis player at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Playing #1 Doubles and #2 Singles for four years 1999-2003.
I am currently head coach of Varina High School boys tennis team having done so for 8 years total starting in 2012.
I have given lessons to kids, junior players and adults since 1998.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Students are asked to schedule a lesson 48 hours ahead of lesson time. Location and time will be agreed upon at contact over phone or txt. Txt confirmation will be sent after arrangement of the lesson.

How did you get started teaching?
I began playing at 10 years old. Began playing tournaments at 14. Became an RTA Instructor in 1998. Developed a love for the teaching game that hasn't diminished.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids, junior players, adults and senior players. All levels and abilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My #1 Varina High school player Charleston Freeman achieved a tennis scholarship to Virginia State University.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Chemistry is a must between student and teacher. A good relationship needs communication to get the most out teacher and consequently the student.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you know about tennis? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are your short-term and long-term goals?
