Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Classical piano: Royal Conservatory Gr. 8 (Canada)
Guitar/bass: 40 years of experience playing in cover and original band projects including my current project The Northern Light (songwriter, vocals, guitars).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge by the month for weekly lessons. My typical rate includes a 30 minute lesson every week. I am happy to discuss a system that works best for you.
How did you get started teaching?
I was exposed to music education very early. My father was a high-school teacher and music department director for many years, so I had years of formal and informal training. I played brass in middle and high school concert bands and regional orchestras. Later, I focused on the guitar and played in many bands. I began teaching formally later in life as a way of giving back to the community.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students from ages 5 to 75, in person and online, with experience levels that range from beginner to professional musicians. I can build a learning program for piano, guitar, ukulele, songwriting and music theory.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love to work with groups of students. In 2021 I have run multiple after-school programs for an elementary school that is part of Northshore School District. f
As well, I organize weekly Ukulele clubs online, including The Tuesday Morning Uke Club.
