About
I have been teaching swimming for 26 years at various Madison, Wisconsin-area pools, especially at Madison College. I prefer to teach adults. I have trained all levels, from experienced triathletes to beginners. I was a pool and lake lifeguard for 15 years. Teaching swimming is one of my favorite activities.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every swimmer or aspiring swimmer is different. We work on the things each swimmer needs to work on next to meet their short-term or long-term goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been certified twice as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, the first time because I wanted to teach swimming, the second because I had allowed my certification to lapse, missed teaching swimming, and took the three-month course again. Our strokes were rated on a possible ten-point score. I received 10's on Breastroke and Elementary Backstroke, 9's on Front Crawl (a.k.a. Freestyle), Backstroke and Butterfly.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to teach at Madison College, Madison WI, which charges $25 for a 30-minute private lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
After I became a certified lifeguard, I developed an interest in becoming a swimming instructor. I also became a certified lifeguard instructor.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types.
