About
Hello! I’m Erika (Pipkin) Crowley and I live and breathe to make, play, sing, and teach music.
I currently teach piano, voice, ukulele, violin, and composition/song-writing to over 40 students at Mason Music and I have been teaching for 15 years altogether. While I love teaching at Mason Music I am ready to expand to my own home/virtual studio. I can and will teach you any of the above instruments in any style you like. I am a highly skilled classical pianist and multi-instrumentalist which enables me to play any genre I like. I am a church pianist, wedding pianist and/or singer, accompanist for singers and instrumentalists. I also have 15 years of experience as a studio vocalist/keyboardist in addition to live performances in bands and as a singer-songwriter/soloist.
I hold a BM in music composition from Birmingham-Southern College and a MA in music composition from Mills College in Oakland, CA. Though my degrees are in composition piano was my primary instrument.
I am very patient and accommodating with each of my students and work with each individual to meet their goals. My lesson plans are tailored to you and your abilities while being fun and inspiring. If you are a parent looking for lessons, I have the unique advantage of being the mom to a 7 year old boy and I understand how kids behave. I design lessons to make your child successful. If you are an adult on the fence about learning a new instrument, you absolutely should! Piano is so much fun and my adult students are all playing intermediate - advanced repertoire in genres that they love and they started as beginners. In fact, most of them say it’s like therapy in addition to learning a new life skill.
Dear future student, I look forward to working with YOU. Come on and play with me!
Watching my students as they have that "aha!" moment and they realize how reading music works.
Getting to know each student's unique personality and learning style. I learn something new with each student.
Getting to make music all day.
