I have had the privilege to work with Bjorn for over 10 year at a company that provides group piano lessons in the public schools. We taught side-by-side in many classes, so I was able to witness first hand the quiet and gentle way Bjorn worked with his students. The classes varied in age from kindergarten to sixth grade. Each child was an individual to him and he would quickly change his teaching method from student to student to accommodate all the ages, levels and special needs in our classes. Bjorn is very much a professional and I would highly recommend him as a piano teacher for any age or level of student.

I first met Bjorn about 8 years ago when he started teaching my then 10 year old son. Fast forward to today, and as my son goes off to college, he is as gifted in piano as he is in alto saxophone, and I attribute Bjorn’s instructional style for keeping my son interested in playing both instruments concurrently. Bjorn has been a great teacher, mentor, and friend throughout the years, and I am very thankful for his tremendous influence in cultivating my son’s keyboard talent. I am completely amazed when I hear my son play so many piano pieces today – many without even looking at the sheet music anymore – and I can thank Bjorn Hanson for giving my son that musical gift.

“ Bjorn taught piano lessons to my son, Alex, for two years. The progress my 14-year old son made during those two years far exceeded any expectations I had. Alex had never taken piano lessons prior to taking lessons with Bjorn. He went from a complete beginner to someone who could master difficult pieces, including Scott Joplins Maple Leaf Rag and Beethovens Moonlight Sonata.

Bjorn constantly challenged Alex and customized lessons around his skill level. He had an abundance of music from which Alex could choose, yet was always open to Alexs own suggestions. By allowing my son to be part of the process, Alex had more incentive and motivation to practice and play. Bjorn pushed Alex to practice but was always sensitive to academic and other extracurricular obligations. He was extremely patient yet he had a subtle way of urging him to practice and become the best he could be.

Taking piano lessons has definitely increased my sons love for and knowledge of music. It has even inspired him to learn how to play other instruments. I highly recommend Bjorn and my only regret is that he was not able relocate with us to Atlanta this summer! He will definitely be missed!
