What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will ask a series of questions. student thei likes and dislikes. I ask age, and grade. It matters the type of music they listen too, what type pf.muic they want to play. Also what they want to explore. Their lessons will be customized to their interest.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was able to purchase a piano and place it in my first apartment. I began teaching in New Mexico, Holloman Air Force Base.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ages 5-18. Young adults and retired military. Children from other country's such as, Spain, Germany, Italy, Philippines. etc.....
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice to finding a good piano instructor is call at least three different teachers for quotes, and be prepared talk to them. Have some questions written down beforehand that you know are important to you. Have your mom or dad help you think this out.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1.What music/songs do I want to learn?
2.Do I really want to put to time in and practice?
3.Can I fit this into my school schedule?
4. Do I enjoy listening to music and going to music class at school?
