This is what Robert Hamilton, renowned pianist, Steinway artist, and professor at Arizona State University said about the owner of Ostinato Conservatory: “Vitaly Serebriakov has proven to be an uncommonly successful teacher whom I regularly recommend to the very finest young talents and parents who seek my advice. He knows what is required to bring gifted pianists to the point of producing a first-rate piano sound, through the proper use of finger, hand and arm weight. Much of this comes from his thorough understanding and mastery of what is perhaps the best technical approach in the piano world, commonly known as the Russian school of piano playing".

** A word from the owner **

I have always been passionate and excited about teaching! I have extensive teaching experience and knowledge combined with individual approach to every one of my students. You will not only get a complete understanding of piano technique, proper usage of hand and arm weight, but also a deeper understanding of musical language overall. My lessons are engaging, informative, and thorough. You will fall in love with classical music right away! My method is developed to master skills in music and piano playing which include technique, theory, sight-reading, and music history. I am proud of my students who show incredible success on the international and local levels by winning competitions, participating at festivals, and mastering all kinds of music tests.

Having lessons with Vitaly had been an eye-opening experience! He is not only a terrific musician (you must hear him play live, he performs frequently in the Phoenix area!), but also a very thoughtful and humble teacher. I am a classical pianist myself and have taken lessons with many great teachers over the years, so I really do have enough experience to know that there are not many teachers like Vitaly. The dedication with which he works is incredible. I always wished that my lessons lasted longer because the working process had been so inspiring. You will not believe what you will be capable of after your lessons with Vitaly.

Our three girls took weekly piano lessons from Anne for years. Her enthusiasm and love for music made lessons a joy! She tied in exciting stories corresponding with lessons being taught. She is a true professional and we highly recommend her!

I am an adult student with some background in music. Vitaly is the best pianist, musician and teacher I have ever known. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is very likable. As a teacher he is very encouraging and respectful. He understands, and can explain, music at a deep level. There were pieces I have heard practically all my life, but Vitaly would surprise me by illustrating melodies in the inner voices that I had never realized were part of the music, enabling me to see beauty in the pieces I had not known was there, and showing me how to bring out the hidden melodies through developing a sensitive “touch” when playing the piano. He played a piece I was working on, and he spontaneously expanded chords in a rather complex line, making the music surprisingly brilliant. He explained things clearly and patiently, and he had the ability of making me feel important as a student. He can take a student from the beginner level to the most advanced level.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Before starting we set up an interview during which we talk with the student and/or parent in order to identify the goals they want to achieve and how we can help. After identifying a level the student is at, we start by carefully choosing the right repertoire and building a individual plan for the entire semester. All our private lessons incorporate elements of solfege, ear training, and music appreciation so all students get the well-rounded education. Our core value is to evolve our students’ lives, foster creativity, and inspire our students with a lifelong love and passion for classical music.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All our artist faculty are experienced and educated professionals who are patient, kind, and knowledgeable. They hold advanced graduate degrees in music or related field from accredited universities and colleges across the world. By hiring one of our incredible teachers you will be saving money in the long run!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Always look for a teacher who is thorough, knowledgeable, patient, and honest! A teacher who has qualifications and extensive experience in the field. This will insure that you will be saving your money in the long run.

A good description was given by a great master - composer and pianist Johann Hummel. He wrote:

"Parents, in the choice of a master, should direct their attention less towards cheapness of instruction, than to ascertaining that the teacher is thoroughly conversant with the principles of the art and has received the best instructions. Remember that evil habits, arising in the commencement through neglect, are not to be laid aside at a later period without great difficulty, and sometimes continue altogether incurable. Make sure the teacher's method of instruction is good and intelligible and that they conduct themselves towards children with patience and kindness".

Plus, one of the pioneers in developing method books in the United States Karl Merz mentioned:

"It is important that the first lessons should be directed by a skillful, masterly teacher. Select, therefore, the best, for it is the cheapest in the end".
