Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student I will ask them what they would like to learn. New students will be taught proper technique and how to read music right from the beginning.
For students that are more advanced, after discussing their ambitions, I will have the student do some playing to assess their skill level. The student will then be given material necessary to achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.M. Berklee College of Music Boston, Ma.
I have over 30 years playing experience in various styles including; Rock, Funk, Jazz, Fusion, Latin, Symphonic and Drum and Bugle Corps. My experience includes many live performances, studio, live radio and teaching.
In addition I also have received training and or certifications from the following percussion manufacturers; Zildjian, Remo, Evans, Vater, Roland, Yamana and Ludwig.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At this time (July, 2022) lessons are $45/hour payable at the time of lesson via cash, Venmo or Zelle.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught students of all levels from very beginners to high school and college students. I have even helped an advanced student on Atlantic records prepare for his up coming U.S. tour.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell any student looking for a teacher that it's OK to try several teachers to find the right fit.
