About this pro

Hello drummers! If you are looking to improve your drumming I have a LOT of experience to share with you.

At this time I am only accepting students in the 7th grade and older. No experience is necessary, just a desire to work and learn.

If you are just starting out you only need to have a pair of sticks and a practice pad, 12" rubber preferred.

You will learn how to properly hold the sticks, some basic rudiments and music notation. As we progress the patterns gradually get more difficult.

If you have experience we will taylor the lesson to your needs and address your specific concerns. I have helped experienced drummers smooth out their hand and foot technique which improved their time keeping and their ability to express themselves more thoroughly on their instrument.

I have helped many intermediate drummers expand their musical vocabulary by giving them the tools to unlock an infinate number of grooves and fills.

For the more advanced drummer I can help with your audition preperation weather it's for college, your first band or you want to improve the way in which you audition leading to more gigs!

Take lessons weekly or just one or two to work out some kinks and get pointed in the right direction.

In addition to a B.M. from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. I have played live on major market radio, opened for national touring acts and recorded with RIAA Gold and Platinum record earning engineers and producers. I am currently on staff as a teaching artist for the Phoenix Conservatory of Music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When working with a new student I will ask them what they would like to learn. New students will be taught proper technique and how to read music right from the beginning.

For students that are more advanced, after discussing their ambitions, I will have the student do some playing to assess their skill level. The student will then be given material necessary to achieve their goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

B.M. Berklee College of Music Boston, Ma.

I have over 30 years playing experience in various styles including; Rock, Funk, Jazz, Fusion, Latin, Symphonic and Drum and Bugle Corps.

In addition I also have received training and or certifications from the following percussion manufacturers; Zildjian, Remo, Evans, Vater, Roland, Yamana and Ludwig.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Although lesson rates start at less than $30/lesson rates do vary depending on location land length of lesson.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have taught students of all levels from very beginners to high school and college students. I have even helped an advanced student on Atlantic records prepare for his up coming U.S. tour.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would tell any student looking for a teacher that it's OK to try several teachers to find the right fit.
